We are expending to Bristol, for Bristol Video Games Expo!
This time it’s set to be bigger than before and in the heart of Somerset, Bristol!
With three successful sold out events with Nottingham Video Games Expo, Bristol Video Games Expo is set to bring the same community focus and energy to the City of Bristol.
The Bristol Video Games Expo is to put together all their favourite parts of those previous events and wrap it all together in a very community focused event.
The city of Bristol has seen it's fair share of internet cafes and gaming store close down in previous years but there has been a keen interest for video gaming since then and following the success of the Nottingham Video Games Expo which took place in Nottingham this showed that the UK was calling for retro gaming and a video gaming market, that's where the Bristol Video Games Expo comes in.
Event organisers James and Alex want to make sure that, wherever possible, their expo will focus on the local community, and so reached out to gaming businesses and groups and developers. The Hengrove Leisure Centre, Bristol is their venue of choice however, they want to keep the same look and feel of the previous events (Nottingham Video Games Expo) after receiving positive praise with how the layout and general flow of the expo was previously.
The Nottingham Video Games Expo has seen a wide range of talks from legends from the gaming industry and fan favourites for the retro gaming community which includes David Wise, Kevin Bayliss, Paul Machacek and Graeme Norgate from Rare Ltd. talking about games such as Goldeneye 007, Battletoads, Timesplitters to name a few plus and joined by voice actor Estelle Ellis who voiced the role of Krystal Fox. Simon Phipps from Core Design speaking about his work in the gaming industry which included games such as Rick Dangerous, plus Gemma (TheGebs24) shared her retro gaming and collecting knowledge and tips. This past July we were also joined by Philip Oliver (One half of The Oliver Twins), Tony Warriner (Revolution Software), Simon Phipps (Core Design), Graeme Norgate (Rare Ltd) and Ross Tregenza.
Bristol Video Games Expo is no exception, we’ll be joined by Andy Davidson (Creator of Worms/Worked for Team17) and a few more surprises soon.
The event will be hosted by the team at The Retro Gaming Revival, introducing the guest talks plus running a 'Beat the Gamer' competition and more!
The Hengrove Leisure Centre ticks all the right boxes when considering the needs of traders/groups and the general public. Being in the city Bristol there is a wide range of parking, an easily accessible bus plus restaurants and bars on the doorstep if visitors wish to leave and come back as all day wristbands are available.
There are businesses and community groups from the Midlands, Derby and further afield plus a number of local businesses from right here in Bristol these include, Right Sprite Retro Games who will be selling a wide range of their homebrews, repros, HDMI solutions and more plus a fan favourite from the previous event the gaming shop from Derby Sore Thumb Retro Games.
